In a thrilling race, Night Purosangue emerged victorious in his 10th start, just holding off Courier Magic for the win. The race was a testament to the unpredictability of horse racing, with several close calls and a few surprises along the way.
The Race Unfolds
Night Purosangue, with a wide trip from gate nine, surged to the lead 80m out, showcasing a strong performance. Courier Magic, running near the outside, made a late charge to finish close behind. This was a significant improvement for Courier Magic, who has been consistently placing in his past three starts across different surfaces.
Foremost Teddy, punted late, fought hard after taking the lead 250m out. This was his third start of the season, and the first on the dirt, demonstrating a strong performance despite the late challenge.
Euro Rocks, running a one-off trip forward of midfield, missed third by a bob of the heads. He has maintained his form with fourth-place finishes in all three starts this term.
Go Go Go, with a wide trip and cover from behind midfield, ran on steadily for fifth place. This was another honest effort on this surface.
Yee Cheong Raider, making its run two from the rear, finished without threatening.
View All Things, dictating the run from gate two, faded tamely, despite a downgrade, disappointing its supporters.
Racing Incident Report
Race One: WA Mei Shan Handicap, Class 5, 1650 meters
- Horse No. 2, View All Things (K101, Z Purton), bumped at the start.
- Z Purton could not explain his mount's poor performance.
A veterinary inspection revealed the horse to be a 'roarer', previously reported.
Horse No. 3, Night Purosangue (J510, B Avdulla), raced tight to the inside of Courier Magic near the winning post, causing Courier Magic to shift out.
C. L. Chau was reminded to exercise more care and to stop riding and straighten his mounts in similar situations.
Night Purosangue was sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No. 4, Courier Magic (H290, C. L. Chau), jumped awkwardly, shifted out, and made contact with All Eyes On Me.
From a wide barrier, Courier Magic was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Leaving the 1300 meters, it improved into a narrow run, causing it to get its head up when steadied.
Courier Magic was held up for clear running between the 450 and 350 meters.
Courier Magic was sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No. 8, Silver King (H420, M. Chadwick), bumped with Go Go Go shortly after the start.
M. Chadwick reported respiratory issues and pressure from the 600 meters before giving ground in the home straight.
A veterinary inspection revealed Silver King to be a 'roarer', previously reported.
Horse No. 9, All Eyes On Me (J453, M. L. Yeung), bumped on jumping.
Horse No. 11, Go Go Go (H196, D. Probert), bumped at the start.
Horse No. 12, Harry's Hero (H332, K. Teetan), from the outside barrier, was instructed to take a forward position.
When unable to cross runners inside, Harry's Hero was obliged to race wide and without cover for most of the race before giving ground in the home straight.
Trainer P. F. Yiu confirmed the instructions, citing the desire to avoid getting too far back and to take advantage of the relatively light weight of 120 lbs.
Horse No. 13, Brave of Friends (J382, R. Kingscote), jumped poorly, shifted out, made contact with View All Things, and became unbalanced.
Horse No. 6, Run Yes Run (J264, K. De Melo), was withdrawn on 29.10.25 due to a lame left fore and will undergo an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
